One who finds the content's of someone else's mind to be their most attractive attribute, above and before their physical characteristics. From the Latin root "sapien", meaning wise. The term is now becoming mainstream with dating apps such as OkCupid and Sapio giving users the ability to define their sexual orientations as "Sapiosexual."

For many, defining oneself as Sapiosexual is also a statement against the current status quo of hookup culture and superficiality, where looks are prized above all else.
"Give me a deep conversation or a passionate debate over brainless beauty any day. Someone who makes me reconsider my long-held beliefs and challenges my mind is a person I can easily fall for. There is no doubt that I'm a sapiosexual."

Sapiosexual: apparently it suggests that a person is attracted to another person's intelligence and wits, rather than their physical appearance. I'd strongly suggest for the term to be replaced though, because of the connotations it carries; the Latin and Greek origins of these kind of words tend to make them universal and they rapidly get used all around the globe. "Sapio" might both mean "to have sense" or "to taste" in Latin, but it also means "rotten" in Greek, therefore the word hints at and sounds etymologically related to necrophilia and/or caniballism.
“All these novelty, millennial neologisms like "metrosexual", "gamification", "sapiosexual" and the like , are truly getting on my nerves” my middle-aged Greek college tutor said, before he facepalmed in despair.

Sapiosexual is a word invented on the internet and used and accepted by morons who want to sound intelligent themselves by saying they expect it from a partner.

It is not an orientation and can’t be unless you’d bang Stephen Hawking and Margaret Thatcher over Tom Hardy and Angelina Jolie. And yes, that would include prioritizing (your perception of) intelligence it OVER gender. It makes no sense and can’t.

If it simply meant “I get turned on by intelligence”, fine, but that’s not what it means and isn’t how it’s used.

Intelligence is a feature of attraction, but so are freckles, or shoulders, or big boobs. It’s not an orientation unless frecklesexual is too.

It’s the dumb person’s idea of what a smart person’s word is.
I tell people I’m sapiosexual because my vocabulary is shit but I’m pretentious with it anyway, since I have no self-awareness.
